Research cycle phases
Units and volumes recompute from your Step 1 concentration (2 mL BAC → 5.00 mg/mL · 50.0 mcg/unit). Doses below are once daily during the course — not weekly.
Standard course
A human pilot study tested roughly ~0.01–0.03 mg/kg SC and recommended ~0.025 mg/kg/day for further Phase I work (~1.75 mg for a 70 kg adult at that kg rate — often poorly tolerated at high ends). Community educational tables commonly use much lower absolute amounts: ~250–500 mcg (0.25–0.5 mg) loading, sometimes up to ~1 mg, then lower maintenance. Nausea, flushing, libido effects, and mole darkening are classic.

Melanotan II 10 mg vials

Bacteriostatic water
2 × 3 mL or 1 × 10 mL
2 mL BAC per vial × 2 vials = 4.0 mL total. Buy as 2× 3 mL bottles or 1× 10 mL bottle (whichever you stock).
U-100 insulin syringes (100-unit)
42+ syringes
About one 100-unit syringe per injection for this schedule. Keep a few spares.
Alcohol swabs & sharps
~88 swabs · 1 sharps container
Wipe vial stopper and injection site each time. Dispose needles in a proper sharps container.
Reconstitution steps
- Allow the lyophilized 10 mg Melanotan II vial and bacteriostatic water to reach room temperature.
- Draw 2.0 mL bacteriostatic water (default for this guide).
- Inject BAC slowly down the inner wall of the vial — avoid blasting the powder cake.
- Gently swirl or roll until the solution is clear. Do not shake hard (foaming).
- Label with recon date and concentration (e.g. "5.0 mg/mL — 2 mL BAC").
- Refrigerate at 2–8 °C (35–46 °F), protected from light. Prefer using a reconstituted multi-dose vial within ~28 days with sterile technique.
Storage
Lyophilized
Keep dry powder cold and dark when possible (−20 °C / −4 °F preferred for long-term research stock).
Reconstituted
Refrigerate at 2–8 °C (35–46 °F). Avoid freeze–thaw of the working solution. Prefer finishing within ~28 days.
- ·Write recon date and BAC volume on the label.
- ·Protect from light during storage.
- ·Discard if cloudy, particulates, or odd odor appear after reconstitution.
Protocol notes
- ·Catalog may show “Melanotan Il” — this is Melanotan II (MT-II).
- ·Calculator: 0.25 mg = 250 mcg; 0.5 mg = 500 mcg.
- ·UV exposure still carries skin-cancer risk — melanotan is not “safe tanning.”
- ·Research use only.
Research context & considerations
Melanotan II is a superpotent cyclic α-MSH analogue acting on multiple melanocortin receptors (MC1R pigmentation plus MC3/4 effects linked to nausea/libido). It is not FDA-approved for tanning; quality of research-market powders varies.
- ·Nausea, yawning, flushing, spontaneous erections, appetite changes.
- ·Darkening of moles/freckles — dermatology caution for atypical nevi.
- ·Not FDA-approved for cosmetic tanning.
- ·Pregnancy out of scope.
