GDF-8 1 mg

Educational recon guide for a 1 mg GDF-8 (myostatin) research vial. Research use only — this is the growth-inhibitory cytokine, not a muscle-building “myostatin killer.”

Defaults match this guide (1 mg + 1 mL BAC). Change water or dose and the unit tables below update automatically.

Step 1

Reconstitution

Peptide amount in the vial and how much bacteriostatic water you add.

Your dose

This guide uses microgram-scale research doses — quick picks are in mcg (100 mcg = 0.1 mg).

Research cycle phases

Units and volumes recompute from your Step 1 concentration (1 mL BAC → 1.00 mg/mL · 10.0 mcg/unit). Doses below are once daily during the course — not weekly.

Standard course

GDF-8 is myostatin — a negative regulator of muscle growth. There is no consumer “performance” dose. Tables below are microgram recon illustrations only for laboratory logistics.

GDF-8 1 mg vials

1 vial

~60 mcg mg total peptide over this 2-day course at 10 mcg → 50 mcg per injection (phase ladder). Each vial holds 1 mg.

Bacteriostatic water

1 × 3 mL bottle

1 mL BAC per vial × 1 vial = 1.0 mL total. Buy as 1× 3 mL bottle or 1× 10 mL bottle (whichever you stock).

U-100 insulin syringes (100-unit)

2+ syringes

About one 100-unit syringe per injection for this schedule. Keep a few spares.

Alcohol swabs & sharps

~6 swabs · 1 sharps container

Wipe vial stopper and injection site each time. Dispose needles in a proper sharps container.

Reconstitution steps

  1. Allow the lyophilized 1 mg GDF-8 vial and bacteriostatic water to reach room temperature.
  2. Draw 1.0 mL bacteriostatic water (default for this guide).
  3. Inject BAC slowly down the inner wall of the vial — avoid blasting the powder cake.
  4. Gently swirl or roll until the solution is clear. Do not shake hard (foaming).
  5. Label with recon date and concentration (e.g. "1.0 mg/mL — 1 mL BAC").
  6. Refrigerate at 2–8 °C (35–46 °F), protected from light. Prefer using a reconstituted multi-dose vial within ~28 days with sterile technique.

Storage

Lyophilized

Keep dry powder cold and dark when possible (−20 °C / −4 °F preferred for long-term research stock).

Reconstituted

Refrigerate at 2–8 °C (35–46 °F). Avoid freeze–thaw of the working solution. Prefer finishing within ~28 days.

  • ·Write recon date and BAC volume on the label.
  • ·Protect from light during storage.
  • ·Discard if cloudy, particulates, or odd odor appear after reconstitution.

Protocol notes

  • ·Do not confuse GDF-8 (myostatin) with myostatin inhibitors (e.g. follistatin, antibodies).
  • ·Research use only — not a muscle-building protocol.

Research context & considerations

Growth differentiation factor 8 (myostatin) limits skeletal muscle growth. Catalog “GDF-8” vials are research materials for pathway work, not performance therapeutics.

  • ·Opposite biology of popular “myostatin blocker” marketing.
  • ·Not FDA-approved for consumer use.
  • ·Pregnancy out of scope.
