Oxytocin 10 mg
Educational recon guide for a 10 mg Oxytocin acetate research vial and microgram unit mapping. Research use only — not obstetric pharmaceutical ampoules.

Defaults match this guide (10 mg + 2 mL BAC). Change water or dose and the unit tables below update automatically.

Reconstitution
Peptide amount in the vial and how much bacteriostatic water you add.
Step 2
Your dose
This guide uses microgram-scale research doses — quick picks are in mcg (100 mcg = 0.1 mg).

Research cycle phases
Units and volumes recompute from your Step 1 concentration (2 mL BAC → 5.00 mg/mL · 50.0 mcg/unit). Doses below are once daily during the course — not weekly.
Standard course
Potency conversion often approximates ~1 IU ≈ 1.7–2 mcg pure peptide. Human social-cognition nasal studies frequently use roughly ~10–40+ IU per session (tens of micrograms). Secondary SC research-vial tables sometimes discuss ~100–500 mcg. Research powders are not a substitute for hospital oxytocin products.

Oxytocin 10 mg vials
1 vial
~350 mcg mg total peptide over this 3-day course at 50 mcg → 100 mcg → 200 mcg per injection (phase ladder). Each vial holds 10 mg.
Bacteriostatic water
1 × 3 mL bottle
2 mL BAC per vial × 1 vial = 2.0 mL total. Buy as 1× 3 mL bottle or 1× 10 mL bottle (whichever you stock).
U-100 insulin syringes (100-unit)
3+ syringes
About one 100-unit syringe per injection for this schedule. Keep a few spares.
Alcohol swabs & sharps
~8 swabs · 1 sharps container
Wipe vial stopper and injection site each time. Dispose needles in a proper sharps container.
Reconstitution steps
- Allow the lyophilized 10 mg Oxytocin vial and bacteriostatic water to reach room temperature.
- Draw 2.0 mL bacteriostatic water (default for this guide).
- Inject BAC slowly down the inner wall of the vial — avoid blasting the powder cake.
- Gently swirl or roll until the solution is clear. Do not shake hard (foaming).
- Label with recon date and concentration (e.g. "5.0 mg/mL — 2 mL BAC").
- Refrigerate at 2–8 °C (35–46 °F), protected from light. Prefer using a reconstituted multi-dose vial within ~28 days with sterile technique.
Storage
Lyophilized
Keep dry powder cold and dark when possible (−20 °C / −4 °F preferred for long-term research stock).
Reconstituted
Refrigerate at 2–8 °C (35–46 °F). Avoid freeze–thaw of the working solution. Prefer finishing within ~28 days.
- ·Write recon date and BAC volume on the label.
- ·Protect from light during storage.
- ·Discard if cloudy, particulates, or odd odor appear after reconstitution.
Protocol notes
- ·Calculator: 0.1 mg = 100 mcg. Rough IU conversion: divide mcg by ~1.7–2 for approximate IU.
- ·Obstetric oxytocin is a regulated hospital medicine — different product and indication.
- ·Research use only.
Research context & considerations
Oxytocin is a nonapeptide hormone with approved obstetric uses and extensive social/behavioral research (often intranasal). Research-market acetate vials are not pharmaceutical labor/delivery products.
- ·Can affect blood pressure, water balance, and emotional state.
- ·Not for inducing labor or unsupervised obstetric use.
- ·Not FDA-approved as a research-vial social/sexual wellness drug.
- ·Pregnancy out of scope except supervised obstetric care.
