Semaglutide 5 mg

Educational recon guide for a 5 mg Semaglutide research vial and once-weekly unit mapping. Research use only — not Ozempic/Wegovy pens.

Defaults match this guide (5 mg + 1 mL BAC). Change water or dose and the unit tables below update automatically.

Step 1

Reconstitution

Weekly research phases

Units and volumes recompute from your Step 1 concentration (1 mL BAC → 5.00 mg/mL · 50.0 mcg/unit).

Standard titration

Approved chronic weight-management product (Wegovy) titrates 0.25 → 0.5 → 1.0 → 1.7 → 2.4 mg once weekly if tolerated. Diabetes products (Ozempic) commonly use lower weekly ceilings. Research powders are not branded pens.

2 vials

~7 mg mg total peptide over this 12-week schedule at 250 mcg → 500 mcg → 1 mg weekly (phase ladder). Each vial holds 5 mg.

Bacteriostatic water

1 × 3 mL bottle

1 mL BAC per vial × 2 vials = 2.0 mL total. Buy as 1× 3 mL bottle or 1× 10 mL bottle (whichever you stock).

U-100 insulin syringes (100-unit)

12+ syringes

About one 100-unit syringe per injection for this schedule. Keep a few spares.

Alcohol swabs & sharps

~28 swabs · 1 sharps container

Wipe vial stopper and injection site each time. Dispose needles in a proper sharps container.

Reconstitution steps

  1. Allow the lyophilized 5 mg Semaglutide vial and bacteriostatic water to reach room temperature.
  2. Draw 1.0 mL bacteriostatic water (default for this guide).
  3. Inject BAC slowly down the inner wall of the vial — avoid blasting the powder cake.
  4. Gently swirl or roll until the solution is clear. Do not shake hard (foaming).
  5. Label with recon date and concentration (e.g. "5.0 mg/mL").
  6. Refrigerate at 2–8 °C (35–46 °F), protected from light. Prefer using a reconstituted multi-dose vial within ~28 days with sterile technique.

Storage

Lyophilized

Keep dry powder cold and dark when possible (−20 °C / −4 °F preferred for long-term research stock).

Reconstituted

Refrigerate at 2–8 °C (35–46 °F). Avoid freeze–thaw of the working solution. Prefer finishing within ~28 days.

  • ·Write recon date and BAC volume on the label.
  • ·Protect from light during storage.
  • ·Discard if cloudy, particulates, or odd odor appear after reconstitution.

Protocol notes

  • ·Once-weekly GLP-1 agonist — titrate slowly for GI tolerability.
  • ·Research powders ≠ Ozempic/Wegovy pens.
  • ·Research use only.

Research context & considerations

Semaglutide is an approved GLP-1 receptor agonist for T2D and chronic weight management as branded products. Catalog research vials are a separate unregulated channel.

  • ·GI effects common during titration.
  • ·GLP-1-class label cautions apply (gallbladder, pancreatitis discussions, MTC/MEN2 framing on approved products).
  • ·Not FDA-approved as a research-vial consumer product.
  • ·Pregnancy out of scope.
