Full-length adrenocorticotropic hormone peptide used in endocrine and stress-axis research; parent pathway for several nootropic ACTH analogs.
How to picture it
Full ACTH is the pituitary's pager to the adrenal system: it activates MC2 receptors on the adrenal cortex and drives cortisol (and related steroid) production. Picture the classic corticotropin signal that opens a full stress-response chapter. In research it is a precise tool for studying HPA-axis dynamics — physiologic completeness, not a casual wellness peptide.
Research focus & benefits
- HPA-axis and adrenal stimulation research
- Classic corticotropin pathway studies
- Stress-endocrine cascade science
Benefits describe research interest and pathway rationale — not guaranteed outcomes or medical advice. Research use only.
Overview
ACTH 1-39 is the primary pituitary peptide that stimulates adrenal cortisol production via melanocortin receptor MC2R. Synthetic ACTH and shorter fragments (including ACTH 4-10 analogs such as Semax) appear throughout cognitive and endocrine research catalogs. Full 1-39 material is more endocrine than nootropic in character.
Mechanism
Binds melanocortin receptors (notably MC2R on adrenal cortex) to drive steroidogenesis. Shorter N-terminal fragments retain CNS melanocortin activity with less adrenal drive — the rationale behind Semax/ACTH(4-10) nootropics.
Research uses
- Adrenal stimulation models
- Melanocortin receptor pharmacology
- Stress-axis and cortisol research
- Parent compound context for Semax/Adamax class
